[The first thing you should notice is that the camera is tilted up at an odd angle towards the forest of Route 29, as if it'd been dropped.

The second thing you should notice is that the background music has changed.

There's an explosion in the nearby trees, and Chris, not in her usual outfit, leaps out from it and lands (without meaning to) in the frame of the video. And, with manic glee,]

Haha!! It's back!

[She's about to leap back into the forest to continuing destroying, but a rain of spears suddenly falls to the side of her.]

What-?!

[Suddenly, Kanade, also in her own, full Gear, comes barreling in towards Chris. Chris stumbles back in surprise.]

You- Gungnir?!

[But then Chris steels herself, and directs her fire at Kanade. Congratulations, Johto: you're witnessing a Symphogear fight.

One of the blasts comes dangerously close to the camera, enough so that it is launched upward, and the feed ends.]

[She'd left them all back where they'd made camp: the bird she'd taken to calling "Comet" after it'd fallen out of things one too many times, the plant thing and the baby only newly hatched from its egg. "Watch the kids", she'd told Comet, before turning away to test out something she thought she'd definitely never be wearing again.

And it'd worked.

She'd even managed to get her opponent's attention - and look at that. So she hadn't been seeing things in that pendant around the girl's neck after all.

Her song drowns out Chris's defiantly, if only for a moment, reclaiming her spear with a grunt.]

~Rather than looking up at the sky without clouds and grieving,
I will fight back against the wind... So let's return to that sparkling future!~

Hey, hey, how about this!

[She hefts her spear to point it double-handed at Chris.]

Looks like you know my party favor. What's yours?

You're not suppose to be the one with that party favor!

[The double crossbows she'd been holding collapse and fold in on themselves, transforming into a pair of double barreled guns.]

Where'd you get it?!

[She launched a barrage of bullets at Kanade. At least she remembered to ask first.]

[What the heck is that supposed---

Kanade grunts, sidestepping behind a tree and whacking a few of the bullets away with her Armed Gear besides. These forests are full of Pokémon - they can't fight here, not when the darn things can barely take care of themselves.]

Catch me and see!

[Knocking a missile back at Chris like she's hitting a homer, Kanade throws herself into yelling out the second chorus of her song and jumps into the air. A safe place to fight, a safe place to fight -

She can't go all-out on Chris until she knows what the other girl's deal is, but nobody besides her Division's supposed to have Gears. As a soldier, it's her duty to reclaim that weapon....

Heh, listen to her. Kanade shakes her head as she runs. As a fallen soldier, her duty's to do as she sees fit. And she still doesn't take too kindly to someone shooting up the local foliage.]

Stop dodging!

[Is that a challenge? She jumps into the air after Kanade, dodging the missiles blasted back and firing another set at Kanade, mid-air.]

Ghh.....

[She tucks her head and rolls, to come out facing Chris as she falls down into the trees again, jumping backwards off of one with her spear lifted high. A flock of Pidgeys take wing, however, scattering at the ruckus and getting in the way of her shot.

The sky is full of birds, Chris. What do.]

[Ha, yes, she can focus on her target-

But the flock throws her off, and she's forced to flip in mid-air and launch herself away.

She lands in a newly-made clearing of uprooted trees, scanning the sky for Kanade. Where did she go...]

[Kanade has beat it, heading for the high ground: there's mountains off to the side of this route, here, and even if they're inhabited at least there's more open ground for fighting.

She's lying in wait, Chris. And just when you've headed her way--]

Over here!

[I think you found Kanade, Chris.]

[Kanade isn't the sort to hide in the forest, and... was that Gungnir's armed gear? The thought is foreign to Chris, but she'll shove that off for now. It won't work with cover- so she probably went into those mountains...

But, whoops, Kanade caught her by surprise.

She manages to move and not get hit dead on, but the attack still sends her flying. She bounces off the ground and lands roughly.]

Ghh...

[Chris staggers to her feet.]

No holding back!

[She launches another round of Billion Maiden, and then follows that immediately with a barrage of missiles.

And if there's flying chunks of rock as shrapnel? Oh well.]

[Holding back? She never does. And you're clearly not gonna tell her anything till you've got this need to beat up on stuff out of your system, so! As long as she can keep you from hurting anybody else, she's more than happy to oblige.

Besides, she doesn't like this. She doesn't like this one bit.

Standing her ground, she twirls her Armed Gear in front of her to deflect the missiles as best she can, teeth gritted; then, heels digging into the ground, she leaps forward.

Barreling straight for you now, Chris, with a feral yell. Spear at the ready.]

[CHRIS NEVER GETS THE URGE TO BEAT STUFF UP OUT OF HER.

If the spear's running horizontally for any moment, she'll try and jump and jump onto it to use as a base to launch herself above and behind Kanade.

While shooting at her, of course.]

[What the - crap--

Congratulations, you got her. Her armor chips away bit by bit, even as she throws up an arm to guard her exposed face...

And sinks into a crouch, to launch herself backwards in the hopes of, if not actually ramming into you in full, at least getting this extended leg beneath your own to knock you off your feet.

She swings at your head sideways with the spear to try and distract from the footwork. If she's noticed you've put quite a dent in her armor, she's not showing any indication. Unless increased ferocity counts.]

[She loves the smell of chipped armor in the morning.

Chris isn't about to let herself get caught by that spear, so she ducks-

Only to get caught by Kanade's footwork and get knocked off balance. She falls to the side, hits the ground - and a moment later, springs back up to her feet.

But there's still a moment in there where she's vulnerable.]

[That's all the time Kanade needs.

She's making a grab for your hair with the one hand, attempting to drag you towards her, while dropping the spear with the other hand to deliver a swift, brutal uppercut to your solar plexus.

BECAUSE THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO YOU BEFORE, AMIRITE.]

[!!!

Kanade will catch a hold of her hair and drag Chris over, but Chris will attempt to wrestle free of that grasp. Not in time, though, to avoid the blow.

~~Why does this keep happening~~

She doubles over around Kanade's fist, winded and totally vulnerable for a bit.

Whatever you're going to do, Kanade, you better do fast, because she is not going to be happy when she recovers.]

[Kanade will attempt, then, to knock you to the ground, lying on top of you to pin you.

If this succeeds, she'll punch you in the face a few times, grunting a little bit each time.]

What d'you think - you're doing - kid-

[She winds back for a MIGHTY BLOW----]

[Kanade will succeed!

She'll try to bring up an arm to block your punches, with little success. Her other hand, however, grips something.

And given an opening...

Kanade, you should feel the tip of a crossbow pressing lightly against your chest.]

Me? Just beating up some loser.

[Can you get out of the way before she pulls the trigger, Kanade?]

[Ghhk....

H-heh. Yeah. Chest. That thing where breathing kind of hurts. Even against just one opponent, she's supposed to prepare for this kind of thing. Death's spoiled her; she's forgotten what it's like to have a faulty body.

She smiles at Chris, though, and flicks her forehead before rolling off to the side.]

Harsh to the end, huh? I'm hurt.

[Can you shoot somebody who's grinning at you?]

[...What? Smile, and- what?

Chris springs to her feet once she's free, still aiming at Kanade with one hand and rubbing her cheek with the other. That assault hurt...]

Then you obviously don't know me.

[She shoots- but a little off-center, more towards Kanade's limbs than anything fatal. As if to slow her down...

Because suddenly Chris jumps and flees back in the direction of the forest.]

[Ow. Ow, ow, ow. Ow.

Kanade drags herself to her feet, reclaiming her Armed Gear only to drive the point into the ground and lean on it instead. H-heh....dammit. She's getting too old for this, you young whippersnapper.]

Yeah, I'm kinda - figuring that out.

[Her voice wavers, but she starts her song from the top. Chasing is not exactly happening at a brisk tempo, however.]

[Chris has taken a bit of a beating but she's still escaping rather quickly. The only help you will get, Kanade, is the fact that she keeps jumping from tree to tree, so there's always a flash of dark red and black and silver hair that could be followed.]

[Well, then. Put her through her paces, why don't you.

Kanade pushes herself to catch up, tossing her spear to get your attention - but it falters, whizzing harmlessly past your head.

And if you look back to see where that came from, you'll be just in time to see Kanade collapsing into the trees. From the sounds of it, you seem to have finally knocked her out of a tree at last.]

[Oh, yes, that gets her attention. She ducks and spins, just in time to see...

Hm.

She keeps going for a few more trees, then slows to a stop. Kanade's not following her. How odd...

Chris works her way back, finding a nice secure tree branch to try and peer down at Kanade. She'll try to stay behind some leaves so Kanade can't see her, though.]

[Kanade is lying facedown on the ground, hair fanning out around her head. Small woodland Pokémon are sniffing her body, wondering where it came from.

As Chris watches, her Gear deactivates. And Kanade coughs, but doesn't lift her head just yet.

She does, however, shake a little. She's - laughing, Chris.]

[Through the branches, she frowns uncertainly. She won? Just like that?

Is- is Kanade laughing?

She moves a little close to peer.]

[Oh, man. Oh, man, her head.....is the only part of her that doesn't hurt....

Somewhere between gasping for breath and laughing, Kanade rolls over onto her back, still just lying down. She looks exhausted, and a little bruised.]

And that's - the limits - of modern science.

[Tilting her head, she glances up in Chris's direction. It's unclear whether she can actually see Chris, but still. How did she know.]

[Well, she's not dead...

Hey, this is an opportunity!

Chris jumps down from her branch, landing right about Kanade's head. She points a crossbow at Kanade.]

How do you have that?

[Chris has never interrogated someone before! Finé will be so proud...]

[Kanade wheezes up at Chris, catching her breath.]

Present from a friend. Hell of a kickback, though.

Be glad you're natural.

[She tries to push herself up onto her elbows but nah. She falls back down. This is good ground. She shall lie upon it.

The crossbow doesn't seem to bother her.]

How about you?

[She jabs the crossbow in Kanade's direction.]

Present from who?

[But then hesitates.]

Natural?

A-aw, man, where's the geeks when you need 'em....

[A wincing grin. Technically, this is all classified information, but what the hell. We're a bit beyond that, if you're wearing one.]

You - put that on without any trouble, right? That means you're a natural candidate.

Me, this one doesn't like very much. I've got a nice lady who helps me with that.

[A "nice lady" in the division... but...]

Stop being vague!

....you got any - crackers, or something, in your pockets?

I think I've gotten hungry again.

[It's not so bad that she feels about to have a relapse of the last time, but still.]

[Chris blinks and relaxes her grip on the crossbow a little in confusion.]

Crackers...?

[Then she tenses up again.]

Stop getting distracted! Answer my question!

[Kanade rubs one eye, wincing through her grin.]

You pack one hell of a punch, anybody tell you that?

Man, where've you been all this time....save us all a lotta trouble.

Tell you what. [A faint smile.] You get back, tell the bossman I sent ya.

They'll explain the complicated stuff.

[She prods Kanade with the tip of the crossbrow.]

That's not how this works!

[Though, if Kanade's part of the Division, then that's probably where Kanade got it...

What should she ask? Hm...]

...Who was that lady you were talking about?

[She has her suspicions, but.]

Why, you wanna make some friends?

[She chuckles, intrigued but oh well. She hurts a little too much for any deep thinking right now. Worry about it later...if at all, there's nothing she can do about this situation, really.

Wow, that's a helpless feeling. No more of that.]

Her name's been plastered all over the news. Top researcher in mumbo-jumbo -

[She makes a peace sign and winks, scrunching up her mouth in a very convincing (if tired) impression.]

She scowls suddenly and fiercely, kicking Kanade (because the crossbow threat isn't working). Wildly,]

Never do that again!

[Kanade coughs, chuckling, and drops her head back to look up at the sky.]

I guess you've met.....

[Which is troubling. An extra relic? A natural user? And Ryoko knows about them both....

Well, now, genius beauty. What kinda projects are you running on the side?]

[-Nobody's suppose to know that! Though... Maybe it won't even matter...?

~~Have you been paying attention to all of Division 2's actions, Kanade?~~]

That's none of your business!

[She glares and... she just can't get over Gungnir being- there!]

How can you have this relic?

[Kanade closes her eyes to better rest up.]

No more questions, teach. I'm spent.

We can play truth or dare after a nap, okay.....

[What...? No!]

Wake up! Hey!

[She prods Kanade with the crossbow.]

Answer my question!

Five more minutes....

[She rolls over onto her side, clutching her relic necklace within a fist.

You have defeated a Symphogear user, Chris. All by your lonesome.

And now, she is taking a snooze.]

Wake up! WAKE UP!

[She prods, again and again, and even fires a shot to the side of you to try and wake you up.]

Gh...

[If she can't ask questions, then...

She'll move to the side of Kanade, kneel down and try and pry the necklace away.]

[Her hand isn't budging. But she's rolling against you.

And her other arm's reaching out to flop down around your shoulders.]

No! Get off!

[She moves to press her crossbow against Kanade to try and get her to roll off, but her Gear has reached its limit. It glows then disappears suddenly, leaving her in her normal clothes.]

Gh...

[Chris will just try and push Kanade off, then.]

[You will succeed. But now Kanade is lying on top of her relic.

Maybe you'd better call it a day.]

[...

Chris just stands up and STORMS OUT OF HERE.

(MDM, once he get suspicious, will enlist Comet and Echo's help to drag Kanade back to New Bark while Chris sulks ontop of a building.)]

[And Kanade remains out like a light.

She's learned some very potentially troubling stuff, today. But she can't do anything about it unless she -
