[The feed starts as only audio. There's the crunching sound of a Gear being dropped, along with pseudofeline whines and yelps.]

What's the matter with you?! Sto-

[This continues for a little while until the distinct sounds of shuffling and a Gear being picked up is heard. The feed shuts off.]

[A few minutes later, a video feed clicks on. The camera is shaky, as if something's pull on the arm holding it up-]

Let go! Stupid thing, why won't you-

[The camera adjusts as she realizes it is on.]

What's the matter with this thing? Stupid thing's been quiet the whole time, and then just suddenly acts up.

[The camera turns to show Chris' Absol, whining and pulling and nudging Chris. Anyone observant (or in the area) might notice that Absol seems to be trying to get her back into New Bark Town.]

How do I fix this? It won't listen to a word I say!

[Something's been making Kanade a little jittery - she hasn't concerned herself with it much, just been aware. It's slowed down her departure, though (well, that and not really knowing where she's going), so she's still around to see a familiar couple of faces acting up.

Coming up from behind, as Torchic runs around in some bushes:]

You tried pettin' it? Or throwin' a stick? It's called "playing"; try it, you'll like it.

[Kanade's sudden arrival surprises her. She turns, but then Absol headbutts her and she stumbles a few steps in the direction of New Bark.]

I'm too busy stopping this thing from mauling me! Not that you'd understand, with your little thing!

[Kanade ignores Chris, too focused on Absol. She walks in front of him so he can see she's there, and offers her hand again.]

Easy, there. Remember me? What's up?

[Kanade's "little thing", meanwhile, falls into the tall grass. A scuffle is heard, including squawks that don't sound like the word "Torchic", and she emerges with her ruff, well, ruffled. To say nothing of the brown feathers sticking out of her beak, which she spits proudly onto the ground.

Except Kanade isn't watching her brave conquest.]

[Absol certain notices Kanade, and even considers her. But no, it just paces in front of her, before decided that Kanade should be heading back to New Bark, too. He'll be pushing against you and pulling on your sleeve now, Kanade.

Chris glances at Torchic, but she's more preoccupied with Absol.]

What, don't you believe me? [Tch.] Look, it likes you. Why don't you keep it?

I don't need it. [Especially not when it causes problems!]

[She points towards New Bark.]

This way? Hey, you don't have the travel jitters, do ya?

Come on, I'm sure it won't be so bad! Just her and you, and the great unknown!

She says those things, but between you an' me, I bet she's just shy.

[And she winks at Absol, but then her expression smooths out. Something has the thing spooked, and it's not a pissy trainer.]

[Chris is going to continue to bluster and be upset in the background, but that's not too difficult to drown own.

Absol will pause to stare up at Kanade. He resolute on the matter: you two must go back to New Bark.

He still appears on edge and restless, though.]

[Instead she stares back at Absol, and when she speaks up again her voice is both softer and more serious.]

It's a feature of the Pokegear that tells you all sorts of information gathered about any Pokemon you might see. It's incredibly useful. I study it every day and I still haven't gotten through all of it.
